Versant Releases New Version of Its Transaction Accelerator

Versant enJin 2.1 Provides Enhanced Synchronization Capabilities

Apr 16, 2001, 01:00 ET from Versant Corporation

FREMONT, Calif., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Versant Corporation
(Nasdaq: VSNT), a leading provider of middleware infrastructure technology,
today announced the availability of Versant enJin 2.1. Versant enJin is the
industry's first comprehensive transaction accelerator for application
servers, designed to speed the performance and enhance scalability of
e-business applications for leading application servers.
"Versant has built the first, comprehensive platform to accelerate
transaction-oriented applications within the middle-tier while reliably and
automatically propagating the business transaction to the back-end systems,"
said Keiron McCammon, Versant's Sr. Director for Technology and Strategy.
"And even more importantly, only Versant enJin provides application servers
with a reliable and dynamic read- and write-capable cache for the middle-tier,
 a critical requirement for transaction-oriented e-business applications." "
Herve Crespel, Information Systems CTO, France Telecom, believes that
"experience has demonstrated two requirements crucial for Information Systems
planners today. First, we need to ensure persistence on the middle-tier and
second, we need to avoid the object-to-relational mapping for complex data
inherent in application server deployments. Versant enJin offers a unique
solution to both of these two issues, thereby helping to build successful e-
 business applications."
Versant enJin supports leading application servers IBM WebSphere and BEA
WebLogic. The latest release simplifies development of new e-business
applications and provides enhanced capabilities to synchronize data between
the back-end database and the middle-tier or application server environment.
Versant enJin 2.1 new synchronization capabilities include: transparent
conversion of the middle-tier object data to and from relational rows and
columns; near real-time propagation of the completed middle-tier business
transaction to the back-end database; and bi-directional bulk loading of data
between a relational database and Versant's patented read- and write-capable
 object cache.
Versant enJin 2.1 is available today. Information can be found at
