WASHINGTON, Dec. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Patton Boggs LLP is pleased to announce that veteran litigator Christina Guerola Sarchio has joined the firm as a partner in its worldwide litigation practice.
Ms. Sarchio has received national attention for her legal skills and business acumen. In 2008, Hispanic Business Magazine named her one of "Twenty Elite Women" and she also received George Washington University Law School's Belva Lockwood Woman of the Year Award. In addition, the Washington Business Journal selected her as a "Young Gun" in its 2007 Top Washington Lawyers rankings and Hispanic Business Magazine recognized her as one of the "100 Most Influential Hispanics" in the country in 2006.
Ms. Sarchio, a former prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney's office, is an experienced litigator who focuses on commercial, antitrust and white collar crime matters. She has represented Fortune 500 companies in both federal and state courts in multi-district class actions and in private litigation relating to criminal and civil matters. She has extensive experience defending corporate and individual clients in criminal investigations and has served as lead or co-counsel in numerous jury and bench trials.
"Christina is a tremendously accomplished attorney and she brings to the firm a range of litigation experience and expertise," said Stuart M. Pape, the managing partner of Patton Boggs. "We are excited to have someone with her impressive credentials and dedication to community service and diversity join us at Patton Boggs."
Ms. Sarchio has represented companies in many industries, including oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, beer, tobacco and consumer products. Her clients have included ExxonMobil, Anheuser-Busch and Nestle, among others. She recently secured a favorable result after trial on behalf of ExxonMobil in Puerto Rico. Over thirty franchise dealers unsuccessfully brought suit to enjoin ExxonMobil from selling its assets to another oil company and withdrawing from the Puerto Rico market.
Ms. Sarchio has also been recognized for her pro bono work, namely for recently serving as lead counsel in a lawsuit against Prince William County, Va. for passing unconstitutional and discriminatory laws targeting Latino immigrants.
"I am proud to be part of the Patton Boggs team and look forward to providing our clients with first-rate legal representation and top-notch service," said Ms. Sarchio. She has been active with the Minority Corporate Counsel Association and sits on the boards of the DC Bar, the George Washington University Law School Alumni Association, and LatinoJustice/PRLDEF.
