Apr 11, 2001, 01:00 ET from Zynx Health Incorporated

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif., April 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Zynx Health Incorporated,
a subsidiary of Cedars-Sinai Health System, announces the release of a pain
management tool, Pain Tracker. Physicians and researchers at Zynx Health have
worked closely with current business partner, VHA Inc., to create and
implement a tool that meets the needs of VHA member organizations relative to
 pain management.
The Pain Tracker tool demonstrates the breadth of Zynx Health's
capabilities. Pain Tracker is specifically designed to assist VHA Inc.'s
health care providers, executive management, quality improvement directors,
and policy-makers in the management of acute pain issues.
Pain Tracker is organized into two domains: literature and tracking. The
literature domain provides evidence-based content in such subject areas as
patient rights, patient education, patient assessment, patient care, continuum
of care, leadership support, and organizational performance. The tracking
section provides a tool for tracking the hospital's or health care system's
level of adherence to key aspects of care, both at the "systems-level," and at
 the "patient-level."
According to Keith C. Kosel, Ph.D., Director of Outcomes Management for
VHA Clinical Advantage, "The Zynx Pain Tracker is a wonderful measurement tool
that helps health care organizations assess how well positioned they are to
meet JCAHO standards related to pain management. The tool provides assessment
capabilities at both the patient and organizational levels in a
straightforward and user-friendly format. Early feedback from VHA member
hospitals using the Pain Tracker tool in Pain Management learning
 collaboratives has been extremely positive."
Scott Weingarten, MD, MPH, President and CEO of Zynx Health Incorporated,
states "As health care professionals, we should be obsessed with making
certain that we manage each and every one of our patient's pain as humanely as
possible. Zynx is creating evidence-based tools to enable health care
organizations and health care practitioners to improve their management of
pain, and to assist health care organizations in their efforts to satisfy pain
 management regulatory requirements."
