BILLERICA, Mass., April 25 /PRNewswire Interactive News Release/ -- Adding
to its portfolio of leading document management and e-business solution
companies, eiStream, Inc. has acquired ViewStar from Avaya Inc. ViewStar, a
premier document processing solutions provider, last operated as an
independent company in 1998 and posted in excess of $43 million in revenue.
The ViewStar acquisition, combined with the Kofile, Inc. and Eastman Software
acquisitions, significantly expands the company's total market share to more
 than 4000 sites worldwide.
"Last year, when eiStream acquired Eastman Software, we embarked on an
aggressive plan to grow market share through acquisitions within Eastman
Software's key markets: financial services, insurance and government," said
David Lakness, president of Eastman Software. "The award-winning ViewStar
strengthens and complements Eastman Software's Work Manager( architecture,
significantly enhancing corporate back office operations document processing.
As we go forward, our new web based connectivity strategy offers our customers
the ability to extend those operational efficiencies to the front office and
directly to customer facing applications, while preserving their back office
 investment."
ViewStar's products will be marketed and serviced by Eastman Software's
sales force operating in 134 countries worldwide. ViewStar systems
consultants will be deployed to support both pre and post-sales functions in
each of the sales regions. ViewStar will be maintained as an independent
company providing worldwide "seven by twenty-four" support operating out of
ViewStar's corporate offices in California and the United Kingdom.
"The increasing velocity of business and information overload experienced
by business users is driving organizations to increase spending on tools for
enterprise managing content," said Andrew Warzecha, vice president of
Electronic Business Strategies at META Group, Inc. "Service industries, such
as the Financial, Government and Healthcare markets, must begin looking at
content as an organizational asset and invest in technologies and
infrastructures that can externalize, personalize and optimize the integration
of content with their mission-critical processes."
"As a customer of ViewStar, we are pleased with the renewed commitment to
providing document management solutions," said Patrick Funck, Manager,
Strategic Claim Systems at Zurich North America. "We look forward to the
additional value derived from the synergies between the two companies to
create the next evolution of ViewStar."
