Apr 03, 2001, 01:00 ET from Village Green Companies

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., April 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Village Green Companies
-- one of the nation's largest privately owned developers of luxury apartment
communities is assembling nearly 500 of its top people for a two-day survival
course in technology, April 5 and 6. The annual event, being held at the Ritz
Carlton in Dearborn, MI, is titled "Are You a Technology Survivor" and is
aimed at helping these leasing, management and maintenance leaders to use the
latest advances to complete their jobs more efficiently and easily.
As part of the two day event, Omar Wasow, a nationally recognized expert
on technology will be the keynote speaker. Omar, who began programming at the
age of 11, is today an online entrepreneur who is regarded as a "techno-
political pundit" who often appears on MSNBC, The Today Show and Oprah talking
about the use of technology. Omar will help Village Green's associates
understand how they can better use technology, and challenge the firm's
executives to further use the medium to improve corporate performance.
In addition, the firm will spend a great deal of the time with high energy
training on such issues as using the Internet and the intranet to enhance
leasing efforts. The event will be capped with its annual Best of the Best
Awards and Top 20 Club -- where the top performers are sent on an all-expenses
paid vacation to a surprise destination.
Finally, one of the most visual and interesting parts of the event will be
the teambuilding training that will involve "Survivor"-like exercises,
intended to improve communication and teamwork.
"We've been bringing all our employees together for 13 years now, and each
year it seems to get bigger and better. This year, we really think we've
created something very special and timely," said Tim Smith, Sr. Vice President
of Communications/Marketing. "With the tremendous impact technology has on
our industry, this type of learning is essential to our long-term success."
