Wasabi Systems Releases Version 1.5 of NetBSD on CD

Latest Version Focuses on Security, Networking, System Administration and

Integration, Providing More Portability and Stability than LINUX

Dec 15, 2000, 00:00 ET from Wasabi Systems, Inc.

NEW YORK, Dec. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Wasabi Systems, Inc., a company founded
by key members of the NetBSD project, today released a CD version of NetBSD
1.5. Wasabi Systems was instrumental in the release engineering of NetBSD 1.5,
a fully functional UNIX-like Operating system.

Several factors separate NetBSD 1.5 from other operating systems:

     * Portability of the software. NetBSD runs on 32 system platforms and
12 CPU families making it easier than other systems (such as Linux)
to get running on a new CPU family or system architecture.
     * Coherency between platforms. NetBSD is the only open source operating
system that has a unified source base across all architectures.
     * Mature and developed networking. NetBSD's TCP/IP (aka Internet
protocol) networking is based on the BSD networking stack, often
considered the reference implementation of TCP/IP.

"With this release, NetBSD is without question the most portable and
stable operating system on the market," said Perry Metzger, President and CEO
of Wasabi Systems. Mr. Metzger further stated that, "We are positive that the
CD will introduce more people to the advantages of NetBSD and show how Wasabi
Systems can customize and support NetBSD to meet the needs of the embedded
 systems and server markets."
"With support for even more wireless and plug-and-play peripherals,
NetBSD 1.5 is the best choice for appliance and mobile applications," stated
Charles Hannum, President of The NetBSD Foundation, the non-profit
organization which supervises the development of NetBSD.
Wasabi's CD distribution comes complete with on-disc documentation and a
full installation booklet and support guide. The CDs can be ordered through
 Wasabi's website, http://www.wasabisystems.com.
