Western Digital Appoints Morris to VP Business Development Post

    LAKE FOREST, Calif., April 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Western Digital (NYSE:   WDC)
 has appointed Jim Morris to the position of vice president business
 development.  Reporting directly to president and chief executive officer Matt
 Massengill, Morris will lead Western Digital's new business development
 efforts, including the Company's existing and future investments in emerging
 applications for storage technologies.
     "Tremendous growth in digital content available through expansive digital
 networks is escalating the need for effective data management and storage, and
 is opening new storage opportunities in high-growth consumer and enterprise

     Morris, who most recently served People PC Inc. as vice president business
 development, will advise, lead and manage Western Digital's investment in
 existing new-venture subsidiaries, as well as direct the development of new
 applications for the Company's local storage technologies.  He will work
 closely with chief technology officer Bill Frank in focusing technology
 initiatives and with the executive and marketing teams in pinpointing new
 market opportunities for the Company.
     With People PC, Morris led business development teams that created new
 sales channels for PC manufacturers and Internet service providers including
 IBM, Hewlett-Packard, and Compaq.  He also helped the company develop employee
 connectivity and affinity programs for Fortune 250 companies, as well as
 several global organizations.  Previous to People PC, he advised industrial
 and technology companies on strategy, corporate finance, and
 business-to-business marketing engagements with McKinsey & Company as senior
 engagement manager for 6 years.
     After graduating from the United States Military Academy, West Point, NY,
 where he earned a bachelor's degree in engineering, Morris served as a U.S.
 Army Captain and Intelligence Officer.  Morris holds a master's degree in
 marketing and finance from J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management,
 Evanston, IL.
