VANCOUVER, April 19 /PRNewswire/ - Weyerhaeuser Company announced today
that its k3 particleboard facility in Vancouver, British Columbia has earned a
top safety award from the U.S.-based Composite Panel Association (CPA) for a
second consecutive year. The k3 facility tied for having the lowest injury
incident rate in the category of mills operating at less than 255,000 work-
 hours per year.
"For Weyerhaeuser to receive this safety award for the second year in a
row is a major accomplishment," said John Bradfield, CPA vice-president,
Technical and Regulatory Affairs. "The company's commitment to safety is
 clearly evident in this achievement."
"By reaching two years without a single recordable incident, k3 employees
have shown that it is possible to achieve zero incidence in an industrial work
setting," said Ken Young, Coastal Whitewoods vice-president. "We are very
proud of the k3 team. It has taken a tremendous effort to achieve this safety
milestone. Improvements in safety awareness, education, employee involvement,
reliable methods and employee pride have all contributed to our success."

goes to the workers. "We have 100 people here who are all pulling together and
looking out for each other. Together we place safety above all else, including
production and financial targets, to ensure that every employee goes home
 injury-free."
