WhisperNumber.com Tops Analysts Again

Fourth Quarter Results Gain in Accuracy and Continue Trend of Reliability

HILLSBOROUGH, N.J., April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Coming into the fourth
quarter of 2000 with an already amazing track record of accuracy in predicting
actual earnings and stock movement around a company's earnings release,
WhisperNumber.com's consistency continued and its authority as the leading
 provider of earnings data increased.
Based on the requests of site users and feedback gained from recent
surveys, an in-house analysis of the data collected and organized by
WhisperNumber tracked two primary areas. Investors are looking for more
accurate information in determining the actual earnings number, and they want
a better predictor of stock movement in and around the earnings release.
     Q1 2000 through Q3 2000 statistical analysis shows a 57% accuracy rate in
predicting the actual earnings. This is 14% more accurate than comparable
data from First Call, a provider of analyst estimates for earnings data.
Fourth quarter results for WhisperNumber show a significant 12% jump in
accuracy to 69%. First Call data saw a significant decline retreating to an
 accuracy rate of only 31%.
"There are a number of factors that have helped our information continue
to gain strength and increase in accuracy," said Paul Hauck, Co-CEO of
WhisperNumber. "The first is a steady increase in individual users on our
site that has allowed the input of more data. The second is a better-informed
investor, which may be a result of Regulation FD and the increase of
information available. And the third is a continued enhancement of our
methodologies and quality assurance processes that have remained consistent
and continue to set us apart from all other data providers." WhisperNumber
remains the only site to have opened its doors to the media, allowing for
actual 'hands-on' review of its proprietary methods.
WhisperNumber sets itself apart by being the only whisper number
information provider to consistently utilize a 'real time' data collection
process. This process has been in place for over three years since the
inception of WhisperNumber.com and is based on information gained from the
self-directed and professional investor. A number of other sites have made
claims of whisper data based on historical or even insider information. Hauck
says, "Not only is historical data inaccurate, it is not reliable, especially
in current market conditions that fluctuate so quickly." First Call found
that out when they attempted to launch a historical based product called the
'Hisper Number.' It never even got off the ground. As for the sites that
claim to get information from corporate insiders or analysts, "I don't know
how those sites get away with stating something that is blatantly illegal and
 highly questionable."
WhisperNumber also utilizes a data mining process scouring the major
message boards (Yahoo!, Silicon Investor, Raging Bull and Motley Fool) to gain
additional whisper number data. Combining this information with the
information gained from their large user base has created a very significant
 indicator of sentiment and expectation.
"Our consistency in methodology allowed us to not only build a reliable
reputation, but has allowed us to provide the most significant earnings
information to help investors make better informed and more timely investment
decisions", continued Mr. Hauck. This is apparent in WhisperNumber's accuracy
in 'predicting stock movement.' "The investors that use our data have asked
since day one 'how can you make money with a consensus number when there
appears to be no correlation to the actual earnings announced and stock
movement?'" In other words, the stock is no more likely to see an increase in
price by beating the consensus than it is to see a decrease in price when
 missing the consensus.
"Our data provides investors with an accurate predictor of stock movement.
In the fourth quarter of 2000 we were (on average) 15% better at predicting
stock movement than the consensus estimates provided by First Call over a one
day, five day, and ten day period." This means that the movement of the
stock, either positive or negative, was more likely to react to beating or
missing the whisper number. Investor sentiment continues to be more
significant then analyst's expectations. Our information led Forbes to
recently state, "WhisperNumber appears to be the purest reflection of retail
 investor sentiment today."
