White Lodging Veteran Named General Manager at New Omaha Property

MERRILLVILLE, Ind., Oct. 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The newest hotel in the White Lodging portfolio, the Hilton Garden Inn in downtown Omaha, has a new General Manager at the helm.  Regional Vice President Lucie Manley recently announced that William Farrell, Jr. has assumed the role at the 178-room property.  "Bill's proven track record over the last 10 years, and his operation expertise make him a perfect fit to ensure the transition of our newest hotel is a success," said Manley.

A White Lodging employee since graduating from Purdue University with a degree in hospitality and tourism management, Farrell has a reputation for driving results across multiple brands.  He began as a Front Office Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in Fort Wayne, Indiana and was soon promoted to General Manager at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Memphis, Tennessee.  

In 2003, Farrell was called in to help improve operations at the 86-room Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott at the Indianapolis airport.  In his four months as General Manager, Farrell made necessary staffing and operations changes to significantly increase the hotel's guest satisfaction scores.

After moving to Chicago and working for a year as the Front Office Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott Magnificent Mile and then two years as the General Manager at the Courtyard by Marriott in northeast Louisville, Farrell was called upon to aid in reviving the performance of the SpringHill Suites by Marriott in north Louisville.  

Within 18 months, Farrell reversed the property's direction and moved to Austin to help in a similar fashion at the Courtyard by Marriott and Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott, both located near the University of Texas campus.  As the Lead General Manager, he headed up efforts to bring the 198-room conversion hotel out of default.

Prior to his new position in Omaha, Farrell was the Director of Operations at the Westin Austin at the Domain.  "I like a challenging position, and I consider myself to be a good team builder," Farrell said.
