CHICAGO, April 27 /PRNewswire/ -- William Blair & Company today announced
that it initiated research coverage of Activision, Inc. (ATVI $26.48), a
leading international publisher, developer, and distributor of videogames for
consoles and personal computers, with a Buy rating.
"Activision has developed a broad and stable range of products with mass
appeal, and in our opinion the company is well positioned to benefit from the
current platform transition," noted analyst David Farina. He estimated that
the company would earn $0.72 per share in calendar 2001 and $1.06 per share in
 calendar 2002.
"We believe that the next couple of years will be terrific for the
videogame industry given the momentum of the new game systems and the
potential of online gaming, and in our view Activision's stock is priced
attractively given this potential upside," Farina said. "As investors
recognize Activision's quality, we believe that the stock could experience
 significant multiple expansion."
