WorldNow Selects MyWeather's Personal Microcast To Become Network's First Preferred Content Provider

Apr 19, 2001, 01:00 ET from WorldNow

NEW YORK, April 19 /PRNewswire/ -- WorldNow, the leading provider of
Internet technology solutions for local news and information providers and the
largest Network of local news and information destinations in the world, today
announced that MyWeather LLC has become its first partner in the Preferred
 Content Provider program.
MyWeather's Personal MicroCast is the world's first personalized Internet
weather service to offer a seamless integration of a television station's
on-air and online weather products. The service integrates a station's
nightly weathercast with its Web site by allowing the weather team to send out
to the Web regularly updated, personalized, location-specific forecasts that
are accurate down to the street level for each viewer.
WorldNow's Preferred Content Provider program was created to provide
optional enhanced online services to its affiliates. Content providers must
meet exacting standards in order to qualify for the program, that gives them
access to over 125 local television stations around the country. By partnering
with WorldNow, value added products from MyWeather will be available for
integration into the WorldNow system for an additional fee.
"We're committed to helping our affiliates deliver an in-depth, robust
content offering," stated Gary Gannaway, Chairman and CEO of WorldNow. "By
partnering with MyWeather, our affiliates have the ability to deliver the
highest quality weather information to their audiences," he said. "Plus, by
opting to include Personal MicroCast on their Web site, affiliates gain
another vehicle for sponsorships. This new, targeted revenue stream combined
with personalized weather information equals a win-win situation -- both for
the station and its audience," he said.
"WorldNow is the leading provider of Internet technology solutions for
local news and information providers. We are pleased to be selected as the
first content provider to meet the exacting standards they have established,
and look forward to serving personalized weather content to local television
stations within the WorldNow Network," stated Terry Kelly, Chairman of
 MyWeather LLC.
MyWeather's Personal MicroCast service draws on a proprietary process to
let stations offer location-specific forecasts (down to the neighborhood and
street level) far beyond what viewers could find elsewhere on the Internet.
The Personal MicroCast has the proven ability to drive new revenues from a
station's Web presence. Apart from the promise of new Internet revenue,
research shows that the Personal MicroCast's individualized Internet weather
service may help boost television news viewership and weathercaster
recognition and drive viewer traffic to non-weather portions of a station's
 Web site.
MyWeather's Personal MicroCast will be on display at the 2001 National
Association of Broadcasters convention in Las Vegas, April 23 - 26 (Suite 206
 Las Vegas Convention Center).
