Zolo Technologies Opens Manufacturing Facility in Singapore; Asian Facility Helps Meet Growing Demand for DWDM Devices

Apr 25, 2001, 01:00 ET from Zolo Technologies, Inc.

LOUISVILLE, Colo., April 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Zolo Technologies, Inc., an
emerging optical networking sub-systems developer and manufacturer, today
announced it has established a manufacturing facility in Singapore to meet the
growing demand for Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) devices.
Zolo(TM) produces its Zmux(TM) line of multiplexer/demultiplexer products
using proprietary DWDM free-space optics and grating technology, increasing
broadband capacity and lowering cost per channel for telecommunications
 providers.
"We chose Singapore for our Asian headquarters due to its favorable
business environment and support of the optical networking industry. Its
technically savvy workforce will mean high production yields at a low overall
cost," said Ed Barbera, CEO and co-founder of Zolo Technologies. "Our
Singapore facility will help us meet the global demand for our Zmux optical
networking components in today's volume-driven marketplace."
Zolo's vice president of Asian manufacturing, Simon Choo, manages the
state-of-the-art 12,000-square-foot facility. Choo has over 20 years of Asian
manufacturing experience. There are currently 10 employees, with plans to
grow to 60 by the end of 2001. The new facility significantly boosts Zolo's
production capacity, enabling it to meet the ongoing demand for its Zmux
 product line.
According to telecommunications research firm, RHK Inc., the North
American DWDM market is projected to reach $26 billion in 2004. Zolo's Zmux
family of products will help meet that demand with its high-volume
manufacturing facilities in the United States and Asia. Zolo's products
uniquely combine high-performance, scalability, reliability, a smaller
footprint and cost efficiency with a design that facilitates high-yield
 production.
