The successful entrant will sail with Julie Scardina, SeaWorld's Animal Ambassador, aboard the legendary icebreaker Kapitan Khlebnikov from Ushuaia, Argentina to the Snow Hill Island Emperor Penguin rookery, in Antarctica, October 13 to November 7, 2010. While on board Julie Scardina will relate fascinating behind-the-scenes stories of animal training and the conservation efforts she supports.
Competition entrants must describe online in 300 words or less their personal efforts to protect wildlife, and why they should be the one to adventure with Julie to Antarctica. The top five competitors will be chosen by popular vote. A panel, consisting of Julie Scardina and representatives from Quark Expeditions and SeaWorld, will select the overall winner from the top 5. In an unusual move designed to keep the competition interesting, voters will be allowed to change their vote throughout the competition.
The expedition cruise is sold out, so winning the competition is the only way to get aboard. The prize package includes return economy airfare from the winning competitor's nearest international gateway to Ushuaia, Argentina; one night of hotel accommodation in Ushuaia; and 13 nights with meals in a twin cabin aboard the icebreaker. The expedition plans to spend three days at the Emperor Penguin rookery watching adult birds tend their chicks.
The competition closes August 31, 2010. To enter, vote or review the competition rules and regulations visit http://www.adventurewithjulie.com. To learn more about the Snow Hill Island Emperor Penguin Safari visit www.quarkexpeditions.com/julie.
