CHICAGO, Sept. 11, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- David Schwartz, a national leader in multifamily housing, will be inducted into the Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame at the 135th Inaugural Gala this Wednesday, Sept. 12, at the Marriott Marquis Chicago.
Schwartz has built his career through persistence and resiliency, endearing him to many mentors along the way.
After earning his real estate license in 1986, Schwartz began his career by canvasing the Chicago office building market. Schwartz, who would later successfully summit Mount Kilimanjaro, said he wore out five pairs of dress shoes from 1986 to 1988 by walking from the top floor of the buildings and writing the names of prospects as he worked his way down.
Schwartz pitched opening the business that would become Waterton to co-founder Pete Vilim, over a dinner of Pop Tarts in 1995. Today, Waterton's portfolio includes approximately $4 billion in real estate assets, including Presidential Towers, North Harbor Tower, The Montrose and River North Park.
"David's compassionate leadership has helped spur Waterton to great success," Rebecca Thomson, president of the Chicago Association of REALTORS® and principal of Thomson Real Estate Group, said. "He is known throughout the Chicago and the national multifamily housing industry as a man with great integrity and business sense. These values highly align with our association, making his induction into the Hall of Fame a perfect match."
Schwartz is an active advocate in the housing industry, serving as vice chairman of the National Multifamily Housing Council, as council leadership for the Urban Land Institute and as a member of the Pension Real Estate Association. He is also a member of the advisory council for the Pritzker School of Medicine and the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Chicago, where he earned his MBA.
The Chicago Association of REALTORS® Hall of Fame was created in 1986 to honor professionals who leave a positive and profound influence on the younger generations in real estate and who helped to shape Chicago's skyline.
The Chicago Association of REALTORS® is the "Voice of Real Estate®" in Chicago and the suburbs we serve since 1883, representing over 15,000 members from all real estate specialties including commercial sales, development, property management, appraisal, auctions and residential sales.
