SAN FRANCISCO, May 25, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- APUS Group, a Beijing-based Android application development company, today announced a new anti-spam SMS filter available in its flagship app, APUS Launcher.
Designed to thwart spam and more importantly phishing attacks, APUS Launcher's new SMS notification feature is powered by a proprietary context-based algorithm that intelligently filters out spam and unsafe text messages that are identified as phishing attempts.
SMS phishing has been on the rise this year, as reported by security firm Cloudmark. The report adds that bank account phishing has been the most frequently reported Secure Message Services (SMS) complaint.
Bank account information can be stolen through SMS when unsuspecting recipients click on URLs embedded in misleading text messages, which may then deliver malware, spyware, or Trojans.
