GAC Motor's SKD Project Kicks off in Nigeria, Further Highlighting Quality Control in Global Strategy of the Company
GUANGZHOU, China, Oct. 14, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- GAC Motor finishes parts assembly and testing of its first eight GS4 vehicles for its GAC Motor SKD (semi knocked-down) project in Oct. 1 through CIG Motors, distributor of GAC Motor in Nigeria. The successful launch of GAC Motor SKD project is the first time for Chinese vehicles to have parts assembled in Nigeria, which greatly promotes China-Africa industrial cooperation and sets a precedent for Chinese vehicles in Nigeria market.
SKD factory is built in Nigeria for the benefit of optimizing supply chain, shortening production time and reducing product cost while at the same time creating job opportunities and promoting local economy. Standard operation procedure is utilized to guarantee product consistency where GAC Motors will provide field guidance for quality control and technical support.
The project marks a further step of GAC Motor to explore global market. GAC Motors currently has showrooms in 15 countries, mostly distributed in Middle East, South East Asia and South America. In 2016, GAC Motor opens three showrooms in Paraguay, Jordan and Nigeria and signs an agreement with a Myanmar dealer. It also organizes a series of global marketing events, including the first GAC Motor test drive event at the Bahrain International Circuit hosted by GAC Motor's only certified distributor in the kingdom of Bahrain, Tas'heelat Automotive Company. GAC Motor also sponsors 'the Oscar of Africa', Africa Magic Viewers' Choice Awards (AMVCA) in Eko Hotel Convention Center.
Both emerging market and the more mature and advanced market in Europe and North America are of vital importance to GAC Motor's strategic objective of being internationalized, according to Yu Jun, General Manager of GAC Motor. And the SKD and CKD (complete knocked-down) in this market build a foundation for global supply chain and production system. Power Asia Pacific, GAC Motor is rated top 1 Chinese brand for four consecutive years and achieves a historic breakthrough for Chinese brand by ranking 5th in the automobile industry. Meanwhile, GAC Motor GS4 wins the championship among Chinese brands with a score of 93 in compact SUV segment.
