HUBLI, India, May 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Sankalp, the 2012 Red Herring Top 100 Global Winner, on an Expansion Mode
Sankalp Semiconductor today announced a fully functional mixed-signal IC Design centre in Bhubaneswar. With already an established design centre in Kolkata focused around analog solutions, this is its second such design centre in the eastern part of India. This state-of-the-art facility is located at Infocity, heart of all IT activities at Bhubaneswar.
This design centre is the home for 30+ top of the line engineers who are working on leading edge technologies and solutions that go into several consumer and industrial systems applications. Sankalp would work very closely with select institutions in the region and establish an industry-academia research and development base for the region. "The twin sites of Sankalp Semiconductor at Bhubaneswar and Kolkata form a very unique and formidable centre of excellence in analog mixed-signal designs," said Mrinal Das, Vice President of Engineering at Sankalp Semiconductor.
The capacity in the twin sites can collectively cater to the end-to-end needs of complex mixed-signal chips. Mrinal Das is a part of the Sankalp Semiconductor leadership team and has relocated to Bhubaneswar to run this operations and develop the regional Eco System. This demonstrates the importance of design centre in eastern part of India for Sankalp Semiconductor.
"High technology job creation in Tier-II cities of India is our stated goal and we live to it. With our head quarters in Hubli and centres in Kolkata, Indore and now in Bhubaneswar, we are making good progress on our stated goal," said Vivek Pawar, Chief Executive Officer of Sankalp Semiconductor. "With good number of key engineering institutes, there have been a rich legacy in creating analog mixed-signal talent and engineers from the eastern part of India are spread across globally in the semiconductor industry. These design centres in Tier-II cities have proved that they can deliver technology intensive work very effectively and also can scale with good economic sense," added Mr. Pawar.
The centre at Bhubaneswar would scale its operations and would hire talented engineers from the region and returning technologists from global locations. Analog mixed-signal is a very niche skill and there are very few companies globally that have mastered this art.
