N&S SCHWEIßTECHNIK DELIVERS FLEXIBLE & AUTOMATED PRODUCTION WITH PANASONIC
Panasonic TAWERS Arc Welding System increases productivity and cost efficiency for high-mix, low-volume manufacturing at German contract manufacturer.
WIESBADEN, Germany, Oct. 19, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- German manufacturer, N&S Schweißtechnik, has adopted two Panasonic TAWERS robotic welding systems as part of an automated solution at its Wuppertal, German factory – increasing flexibility, and cost-efficiency for high-mix, low volume production. Using Panasonic's PA-ET-2DK and PA-TT-2DK cells, N&S Schweißtechnik is able to reduce manufacturing downtime, and increase overall production capacity.
Working with customers in the material handling, aerospace, shipbuilding, mining, and environmental technology sectors, N&S Schweißtechnik manufactures everything from small components with a thickness of 1mm, to heavy-duty industrial parts such as anchor chains up to 800m long.
Advanced Manufacturing Without Increased Footprint
The previous robotic welding systems used by N&S Schweißtechnik could no longer fully support the rigorous demands of modern contract manufacturing, with loading and unloading times impacting productivity. Working with Panasonic, the N&S Schweißtechnik team has deployed a tailored solution that operates within the tight confines of its factory, without compromising extraction, maintenance points, or access to service doors.
Panasonic's ET-2DK features a rotary table, with the TT-2DK cell equipped with two workstations and dual tilt-rotary positioners. This allows new components to be prepared while welding continues simultaneously. Both perform tack and final welding and can be reconfigured quickly to accommodate new parts. Operating 24/7, they are ideal for welding long seams on heavy-duty components using a high-capacity 500 A torch. A 400 A torch is used where welding areas are difficult to access.
The increased flexibility afforded by Panasonic's TAWERS solution has also enabled N&S Schweißtechnik to diversify into manufacturing smaller components with shorter production cycles. The installation is supported by ongoing practical training programmes, and rapid-response servicing support from Panasonic.
"The high-mix nature of our manufacturing portfolio necessitated an agile solution that is flexible enough to adapt quickly. Panasonic's turnkey TAWERS system has enabled us to significantly increase productivity, which has a profound impact on day-to-day operations," comments Mike Pawlik, Operations Manager at N&S Schweißtechnik.
