TOUGHBOOK POWERS NEXT-GENERATION AIRCRAFT DIAGNOSTICS SOLUTION FOR GE AEROSPACE
Rugged TOUGHBOOK G2 chosen for new version of industry-leading rotor track and balance application, increasing efficiency and accuracy for aircraft maintenance teams.
BRACKNELL, England, Sept. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- The Panasonic TOUGHBOOK G2 has been chosen as the platform for GE Aerospace's next-generation Rotor Analysis and Diagnostic System (RADS-NG), a new rotor track and balance (RT&B) solution that enables aircraft maintainers teams to easily and accurately diagnose issues.
RADS-NG consists of a compact Data Acquisition Unit (DAU), and Optical Blade Tracker, which measures and monitors the movement and alignment of rotor blades as they pass through its field of vision. This enables the track and lag of each blade to be determined.
The DAU acquires data from all sensors and the Optical Blade Tracker, displaying this through the Control and Display Unit (CADU) application on the TOUGHBOOK G2. This allows maintenance teams to easily visualise the vibration levels of rotor blades and heads and accurately balance the blades in just a few clicks.
Modernising Rotor Diagnostics with Panasonic
The G2 features a 10.1-inch touchscreen and unrivalled modularity for extensive customisation and is tested to MIL-STD-810H standards to survive drops, knocks, vibrations, and extreme temperatures. The glove compatible touchscreen enables the CADU application to be seamlessly operated at the same time as rotor maintenance is taking place. Compared to the previous solution, the G2's compact form factor and ruggedised exterior makes it easy to grip and use during maintenance flights.
GE Aerospace, a global leader in aircraft engines, avionics, and aerospace systems, worked in conjunction with Panasonic-approved Premier Partner, Mem-Star Rugged, to deliver the fit-for-purpose solution.
