2013 Canon Image Bridge Asian Youth Image Exchange Achievement Exhibition Opens in Beijing
BEIJING, Dec. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- At 7pm on December 24, 2013, the 2013 Canon Image Bridge Asian Youth Image Exchange Achievement Exhibition, themed "Transmit Friendship with Images and Spread Childlike Innocence Across Asia" raised its curtains in The Orange exhibition hall of Taikoo Li Sanlitun, in Beijing. It will last until December 27, during which 133 exchange cards and photos will be exhibited in eight different booths defined by country. Thanks to these images, children from different backgrounds can achieve cross-language communication.

"Canon Image Bridge" is 2013's new exploration following five years of "Image-Light of Hope". Since its launch in 2008, the "Image-Light of Hope" commonweal project has bridged 134 schools in 10 Asian countries and regions, allowed more than 4,200 students to participate in this activity and collected 10,754 works. In five years, a total of 1,850 volunteers have participated in this project. The voluntary service time was up to 19,800 hours, equivalent to 2,475 working days.
The exhibition area of each country has its own unique theme. Chinese children focused on traditional culture and history; the Philippines' children interpreted appreciation; Malaysian children showed the harmonious coexistence of children of various nationalities; Indian children showed their playmates living in the "Small Salty Village" with its particular geological conditions; Thailand's children showed a different Mother's Day; Singaporean children showed little volunteers; Vietnamese children showed their hunger for love and Japanese children planted the seeds for environmental protection in their minds.
Yang Liandi, a children's volunteer from Burma, participated in the "Canon Image Bridge" volunteer activity organized by Canon (China) twice in 2013. She told children from Canon Hope Primary School at Dongjia Port in Tianjin and Sanlitun Primary School in Beijing about the culture, history and customs of Burma. This was her first time to walk into China's "Hope Primary Schools", and she thinks it is a very meaningful job when studying in China.
Lu Jie, general manager of the Enterprise Brand Communication Department of Canon (China), the person in charge of corporate social responsibility of Canon (China), as well as the founder and principal of the "Canon Image Bridge" project, explained the original intention of the project at the opening ceremony of the exhibition.
"Make the image into the tool to build bridges of communication and realize exchanges among teenagers from various countries. The image can transmit their truest feelings to others without being disturbed by language barrier," said Lu Jie. "When these images carrying their own true feelings are passed between teenagers from various countries, they opened a window for teenagers to know the life of their peers in different countries and build a bridge for these teenagers seizing the future to reach each other's minds. The so-called communication, understanding, trust, and friendship are thus born. Yang Xiaoyu, secretary general of the China Youth Development Foundation, as the witness, wrote an article themed "Attempt of Image in Commonweal", and made positive remarks over the "Canon Image Bridge" project.
