With such a motive, 3M's 'Invent a New Future Challenge 2016' invited participation from first-year business school students. Reputed management institutes including IIFT, XLRI, IIM Lucknow, IIM Kozhikode, SPJIMR, NMIMS & NITIE participated.

Hundreds of students went through an online, creative and rigorous screening process, and 16 students were shortlisted for the India finals held in the 3M headquarters at Bengaluru. After multiple rounds of project-based testing, two students from XLRI, Jagruti Vojjala and Anunay Arora were declared winners of Invent a New Future Challenge (INF) in India.
Apart from an opportunity to participate in the Global INF Challenge Finals at the 3M global headquarters in St.Paul, Minnesota in July, 2016, they also received pre-placement offers from 3M India. The challenge saw competition from 14 countries across the world including India, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, China, Japan, Panama, Poland, Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Korea, United Arab Emirates and United States.
At the global level, Jagruti Vojjala made 3M India really proud by being a part of the seven-member inter-country winning team. Reacting to her victory, Jagruti Vojjala, second-year business management student at XLRI-Jamshedpur said, "It's been a long journey and I have thoroughly enjoyed each part of it. This is a platform where my ideas were appreciated and that felt even better than winning."
3M's Invent a New Future Challenge stands apart from other B-school competitions since they have a vast amount of international exposure, pre-placement offers and the winners get a six-month mentorship with a senior 3M leader.
