Agarwal Packers and Movers Ltd.(APML) has also signed MOU for setting up of multi-modal integrated logistics parks and suggested 4 logistics gateways i.e. Dudhu (Rajasthan) for North, Jamshedpur for East, Malegoan (Maharashtra) for West and Hosur (TN) for South. APML also suggested Malkapur in Maharashtra situated centrally that can be created into a National distribution hub. All these locations with integrated multi-modal parks will become pivot for all transportation and supply chain activities.

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has initiated project called LEEP for logistics efficiency enhancement which has identified four key themes to improve the state of logistics in India and will change logistics landscape of India. These are freight corridor upgradation, logistics park development, seamless interstate movement and electronic toll collection systems.

MoRTH plans to develop 35 Multi-modal Logistics Parks (MMLPs) in India which will cater to 50% of the freight movement, enable -10% reductions in transportation costs and -12% reductions in C02 emissions. Land parcels have been identified and pre-feasibility studies initiated on six of these locations.

Mr. Ramesh Agarwal - Chairman, Agarwal Packers and Movers Ltd. (APML) announced investment worth Rs. 650 crores for setting up such logistics parks in the country. Mr. Ramesh Agarwal was quite enthused on the various initiatives announced by MoRTH and said "These multi-modal hubs will benefit the transport industry to a great extent and will also help reducing the India's logistics cost and bring them closer to the accepted global benchmarks from the current high levels of 13-14% of GDP." He further said that Indian logistics sector will benefit from all these initiatives and GST regime would also act as a catalyst for change.
