Chandigarh University earns prestigious ABET accreditation for nine engineering courses
CHANDIGARH, India, Oct. 26, 2023 /PRNewswire/ -- Chandigarh University (CU), which is the story of a roaring success, has achieved another marvellous feat, as the prestigious Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) has accredited the university's nine engineering programmes. It has now the highest number of ABET accredited courses among private universities in India.
This was announced by CU Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu who said that this recognition is a testament to the university's academic excellence. ABET, which is the premier global accreditation organisation of the engineering and engineering technology programs, is widely recognised as evidence that an engineering program meets the standards set by its technical profession, thus, largely helping students in career prospects.
It is also globally recognized as the 'Gold Standard' for engineering education and signifies that a program adheres to the highest standards in preparing its graduates to work in a global workforce. At present, the engineering courses of 10 universities/institutions are ABET accredited in India.
CU's nine engineering courses — Aerospace Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Chemical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Civil Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Computer Science & Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Computer Science & Engineering (with specialisation), Electrical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Electronics and Communication Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering), Mechanical Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) and Mechatronics Engineering (Bachelor of Engineering) — were given the accreditation by the premier accreditation body.
ABET accreditation ensures that graduates have met the educational requirements necessary to enter the profession. It also provides opportunities for the industry to guide the educational process to reflect current and future needs and enhances the mobility of professionals.
