Ringr Provides Digital Call Quality and Uses Less Than 400kb Data per Minute
Kochi based IT start-up Quiq Infotech has launched Ringr, a smartphone application that uses Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and innovative data transfer technologies to provide clear audio quality even at low bandwidth. The app is available for download for Android users and will be launched for iOS soon.

Ringr aims to dispel misconceptions about VoIP calls being ineffective in India due to low bandwidth. It uses indigenously developed Quiqz technology that compresses data into small packets to work efficiently even when network conditions are poor. As a result, Ringr uses only 400 kb of data per minute over 3G networks, while competing apps like Skype and Whatsapp use almost double .*

The redeemed rewards can be accessed in the Ringr Rewards Vault, and users can boost their earned rewards by watching videos and participating in surveys in-app. This system effectively refunds the data costs incurred, making Ringr VoIP calls a cost-efficient alternative to regular phone calls.
The app also serves brands with its permission advertising-based monetisation strategy, which requires users to perform tasks to redeem earned reward points. This strategy allows brands to capture a niche audience based on their requirements.
Ringr, which is freely available for download on the Google Play store, also aims to promote interpersonal communication, by making VoIP calls a viable alternative to instant messaging. Ringr 'moods' are a step in this direction, allowing users to set preset moods and be notified if other Ringr users in their phonebook have the same mood, enabling them to make plans together.
