The upcoming 4th edition of India Smart Grid Week (ISGW 2018) is all set to kick-start and welcome all the experts from across the globe. The conference and exhibition is primarily focused on Smart Energy and Smart Cities, organized by India Smart Grid Forum scheduled from 05-09 March 2018 in New Delhi, India. ISGW 2018 is supported by the Ministry of Power, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Science and Technology, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Ministry of Heavy Industries and Public Affairs, NITI Aayog and Make in India.

ISGW 2018 will be inaugurated by Shri Raj Kumar Singh, Minister of State (I/C) for Power and New & Renewable Energy. More than 200 internationally acclaimed experts in the field of energy, policymakers from the government and utility leaders will be a part in the event. Experts from India and around the world will share best practices on Smart Energy, Smart Cities, Advanced Solutions for Grid Modernization, Rollout Plan for Smart Meters, Electric Mobility, Disruptive Innovation, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Robotics Technology Trends and Renewable Energy Integration at ISGW 2018.
ISGW 2018 will witness bilateral smart grid workshops with Europe, Sweden, USA and France. The event will also have other parallel events such as Blockchain for Utilities, Smart City Gas Distribution and Smart Water Session. The initiative is being supported by more than 35 renowned international organizations.

Our requirements are very different from the western economies. Western economies already have 24x7 power but we need to control the peak time demand to ensure 24x7 power is available to all. Smart grid can help in selective load control and shifting for example turning of the load for air conditioners or water pumps in peak hours rather than load shedding across households which is what is happening now."
Meeting the constantly increasing energy needs of the country and supplying 24x7 reliable power to all citizens is a major challenge in India. With rapid growth and increasingly rising energy needs of the domestic and commercial sectors, India is working on several futuristic fronts to find credible solutions to meet its energy needs. Smart grids are one of the several aspects of the solution. Power utilities, policymakers and other stakeholders are convinced of leveraging the evolving smart grid technologies in resolving some crucial lacunas in electricity delivery and this will be the key theme for the discussions at the 4th edition of India Smart Grid Week.
