Front-runners of Indian Manufacturing Fraternity to Gather at Chennai for National Awards for Manufacturing Competitiveness on 6th June 2014
CHENNAI, June 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ --
The International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM) is set to organise the first edition of National Awards for Manufacturing Competitiveness (NAMC) on 6th June 2014 in Chennai. Front-runners from the Indian manufacturing fraternity from Himachal Pradesh to Tamilnadu will be attending the event.
The National Awards for Manufacturing Competitiveness (NAMC) was instituted by International Research Institute for Manufacturing in the year 2013 with a vision to appraise and applaud the manufacturing competitiveness of Indian organizations and encourage them in their process of becoming world class.
This unique awards program would recognize non-conventional approaches and tailor-made strategies of organizations. The awards process would rate manufacturing organizations on their ability to evolve the right competitive strategy along with their capability to implement it.
The role of the International Research Institute for Manufacturing (IRIM) as an unbiased third party is to evaluate and rate each company on its unique Manufacturing Competitiveness Index. This rating is achieved through a structured assessment of the manufacturing facility on ten indicators of manufacturing competitiveness, which are building blocks behind the calculation of this index. The assessment is customized to each facility by assigning unique weightage to each of these indicators based on organization's priorities to become more competitive.
Competitiveness of an organization denotes its ability to perform amidst other organizations. In the globalized world, geographies are not barriers to competition. Each manufacturing organization works towards building its unique competitive strategy, where in most cases the answers lie in the agility and efficacy of its manufacturing process. It is impossible to achieve such competitiveness through compliance of a predefined set of best practices or management processes.
Event Highlights:
Padma Bhushan Dr. A Sivathanu Pillai, Distinguished Scientist and Chief Controller (R&D), DRDO and CEO & MD, BrahMos Aerospace will be gracing the occasion as the Chief Guest.
Renowned manufacturing companies from the country across various sectors will be participating in this prestigious event.
The event will also feature a panel discussion involving industry stalwarts on the topic - "What has to be done to drive top talent to the manufacturing sector".
