Landis+Gyr Wins Major Contract from West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company
KOLKATA, India and SYDNEY, June 17, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Landis+Gyr, the leading global provider of integrated energy management products, has secured another big contract in India for more than one million digital meters from utility WBSEDCL, which is the public utility responsible for power distribution in the state of West Bengal and is headquartered at Kolkata.
WBSEDCL is one of the most respected distribution utilities in India and have been aggressively replacing its meter park with high quality electronic meters since 2009. This order is intended for this ongoing grid modernization and electrification efforts. The utility supplies 96% of power in the state of West Bengal, including parts of city of Kolkata.

Landis+Gyr have supplied a total of 3.5 million meters to WBSEDCL in last 5 years.
