Rohit Singh, MBA, '16, shares his impressions
ITHACA, New York, Dec. 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- When in a place as admired as Cornell University, you are not just amazed by the talent that surrounds you, you are humbled by it. It has been seven months since I started the One-year MBA in Ithaca program at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management. Let me say this…what an incredible 215 days it has been.

The one-year program is expected to be fast-paced and intense, but despite these words of wisdom, you will be surprised. The summer semester flew by in a little over nine weeks and we have not only finished core classes in leadership, finance, accounting, microeconomics, statistics, critical thinking and strategy but also completed approximately 20 tests including quizzes, mid-terms, and finals. It has been a fulfilling, life-changing learning experience. What lies ahead is even better. For me, when starting a new journey, knowing what lies ahead is good but finding out as I go along is even better.
The program and the school are everything I expected and more. Courses are not just enriching but also application-based, which is crucial in b-school education. Perhaps more importantly, there is diversity in the type of courses providing much to choose from in order to customize your program according to your learning and career needs. This was a very important criterion when making my choice about MBA programs. I am currently completing Marketing, Business Strategy, Pricing, Data Driven Marketing, Financial Markets, Oral Communication, and Consumer Behavior, while working with my career workgroup and mentors/alumni for the recruitment season. If that isn't enough, I will be working on a live project for a firm as a student consultant. I would be remiss if I didn't mention meeting and working with the Two-year MBA in Ithaca students who started in the fall. Sound like a lot? There are people at Johnson who are doing all that and more.
As I write this article (and feel tempted to go on), I realize there is so much to look forward to but there is also a great amount that I have learned, internalized, applied, and accomplished. Becoming a Cornellian was like a dream come true and every once in a while I feel the urge to stop and tell myself, "You are living your dream!"
