The Rummy premier league was conceptualized by Junglee Games, one of India's foremost online gaming companies. The concept, which was influenced by the Indian Premier League was kick-started on the 2nd of April 2018 and concluded on 29th April, and went on to become India's most followed online rummy tournaments.

The event saw thousands of rummy enthusiasts participating in the online contest where the winner Ms. Aditi from Bemetara, Chhattisgarh went on to win a Honda Amaze and the runner-ups Mr. Purusothaman from Mungulam, Madurai, TN and Mr. Ravi from Sirkali, TN both won a Royal Enfield and a trip to Thailand respectively.
The concept was the brainchild of Kapil Rathee, CPO, Junglee Games and Avijit Bajpai, Sr. Head Branding, Junglee Games, who aimed at consolidating the top Rummy Players under one umbrella during the blockbuster Indian Premier League season. Above all, the objective was to give Indian Online Rummy Players a first-of-its-kind tournament organized on a massive scale.
The tournament saw more than 168 satellite tournaments spanned over for about a month and the winner getting a brand new Honda Amaze.
"The idea was to sync Rummy with the IPL and giving rummy players the festive feel on all screens. We made our systems robust enough to handle 8 varied tournaments in a day, for a month. I am overwhelmed with the fact that the saga alone witnessed more than 50,000 players in addition to the players who play regularly on Junglee Rummy," said Kapil. "It was a small town girl from Chhattisgarh, who had never participated in online rummy tournaments before, who shocked the entire nation by winning the qualifiers to become India's topmost Rummy player," he continued.
