With the opening of Sapna Theatre, the company now looks to expand its offering with fully immersive audio. The Sapna Theatre screen has been fitted with a brand-new Auro 11.1 by Barco system. Introducing a three-layered sound overhead, height and ear-level, this technology manages to draw film fans into the story told on screen more than ever.

Sri. Kattukkaran Mohan Paul and his son Sri. Kattukkaran Paul Mohan while exploring the viability of mounting the aesthetic sensibility by exploring the most modern technologies in the scenario of film exhibition they chose to implement Auro 11.1 in the new Sapna Theatre, they turned to Mr. Baburaj, Sound Engineer for technical support. Baburaj has a long-standing relationship with Barco as a system integrator. Baburaj With a series of similar installations already under his belt including installs of Muthoot Mini group & EVM group worked together as a team with Mr. Giri of GM Audio and Pro VA, which proved to be a great help, completing the installation on time and within budget. As a result, Kerala's film aficionados were in for a treat as of this Wednesday.
About Sapna Theatre
It was the grandfathers of Sri.Kattukkaran Mohan Paul, the Proprietor of 'Jos' and 'Sapna' Theatres in Thrissur, who introduced the skill of exhibiting cinema for the first time in Kerala. The contribution of these luminaries named Kattukkaran Varunny Joseph, Kattukkaran Joseph Devassy and Kattukkaran Devassy Paul etc. in the field of film industry in Kerala are to be learnt by heart forever. It can be asserted beyond doubt that the entire Kattukkaran family were engaged in the cinema industry for the last four generations. It is on this account that the Government of Kerala, in 1996, decided to honour the then living legend of kerala film industry Sri.Kattukkaran Devassy Paul with an award reckoning the meritorious service extended by him in the field of cinema.
In 1908 Sri. Kattukkaran Varunny Joseph, under the flag 'JOS BIOSCOPE' lighted the inception of first film exhibition in a temporary shed at 'Thekkinkadu Maidhan' at Thrissur. During those days the film was exhibited manually by revolving the lever of the machine by hand as there was no electricity available.
It was in 1936 'JOS THEATRE' the first talkies in Kerala started functioning under the proprietorship of Kattukkaran Joseph Devassy. Almost all at the same time that a theatre called 'RAMA VARMA' had also started running. It was working up till 1976 after which proprietor of the 'JOS THEATRE' Sri. Kattukkaran Devassy Paul took over.
In 1978 the theatre was renamed as 'SAPNA THEATRE'. The theatre is located in the eastern side of the Royal Avenue called 'Swaraj Round', adorning another feather on the crown of the cultural capital of Kerala.
