BOSTON, Dec. 12, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Seaborn Networks, a leading developer-owner-operator of subsea fiber optic cable systems, announced the introduction of SeaSpeed™, the lowest latency point-to-point solution between Carteret, New Jersey and São Paulo, Brazil. This new offering, available exclusively from Seaborn, sets a new ultra-low latency standard between the financial centers of North America and South America.

Seaborn's Seabras-1 submarine cable, with a committed ready-for-service date of June 2017, is a key enabler for SeaSpeed. Seabras-1 is the first direct point-to-point cable system between New Jersey/New York and São Paulo.

SeaSpeed, available directly and exclusively from Seaborn, represents a multi-millisecond step-change in lowest latency offerings for the US-Brazil financial path. SeaSpeed also includes: (1) industry-leading service level agreements; (2) circuits activated in a few days, not several months; and (3) direct communications for customers with Seaborn as the submarine cable developer-owner-operator.

"Seabras-1 was already expected to offer improved latency over the multi-point solutions that currently exist on this route," said Paul Creelman, Business Development Director & Head of Low Latency Sales. "However, SeaSpeed is an enhanced, proprietary end-to-end solution that offers the fastest path."

The full USD 500 million project funding for Seabras-1 was completed in 2015, on top of more than USD 20 million of research & developmental capital previously invested in the project. Manufacturing of the cable is 100% complete, and the cable lay will commence in early Q1 2017. Seaborn is the independent developer, operator and co-owner of Seabras-1. Seabras-1's other co-owner on behalf of its clients is Partners Group, the global private markets investment management firm with more than USD 55 billion in assets under management.
