-- Inaugural Program's Details Revealed

STOCKHOLM, Jan. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Stugan, the games accelerator launched by Sweden's most influential video game developers and entrepreneurs, today opened its application process to game developers worldwide.  The accelerator is accepting applications beginning today through March 31, 2015 from up-and-coming, undiscovered individuals and small teams across the globe making games for all platforms and styles.  Applications and program details are available at www.stugan.com.

"Stugan's main goal is to provide a foundation for inspiring game developers. Many of Sweden's most successful games industry veterans will be shepherding the program along and personally coaching participants," said long-time games industry veteran Tommy Palm. "And, we're all very eager to see the submissions and hear about the next generation of game ideas from across the globe."

Stugan is led by Sweden's leading individuals in the video games industry including Oskar Burman (Rovio), Tommy Palm (previously from King Digital Entertainment), Christofer Sundberg (Avalanche Studios), and developers from the likes of Mojang and others.

Twenty aspiring game developers will be selected to spend eight weeks with all expenses paid in a traditional "Stugan" in the Swedish countryside, where they will be supported and mentored while building their games. At the end, the developers will present their work to potential publishers, sponsors and investors. Unlike traditional accelerator programs, all participants will keep the rights to the games they work on.

The first year of Stugan is going to be in the Swedish municipality Falun, just north of Stockholm. Applicants will be asked to submit a 90 second video presenting themselves and their game idea, along with a short written description of themselves, the game and the goal they want to reach. Chosen participants will be selected towards the end of April 2015 and the program will start that summer.

Oskar Burman, General Manager of Rovio Stockholm, added "We're very happy we've found the perfect location for Stugan this year, and excited to start screening applications for suitable teams. This will be a summer of creativity!"

Applications will be accepted today through March 31, 2015. All current details can be found at www.stugan.com.
