Independent TÜV SÜD certification validates Elmo's secure development lifecycle and supports readiness for the EU Cyber Resilience Act.
PETACH TIKVA, Israel, Oct. 7, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Elmo Motion Control, a global leader in advanced motion control technology, announced that its Secure Product Development Lifecycle has achieved IEC 62443-4-1 Maturity Level 2 (ML2) certification from TÜV SÜD. The certification provides machine builders and system integrators with independent validation of Elmo's structured approach to cybersecurity throughout product development and maintenance.
As machines become increasingly connected, cybersecurity is an essential consideration in motion control. Elmo integrates security into its development lifecycle, from initial design through post-release maintenance, giving customers greater confidence in the development practices behind the motion control solutions they integrate into their machines.
IEC 62443-4-1 is an international standard for how manufacturers should build security into products used in industrial automation. Maturity Level 2 is the second of the standard's four levels and recognizes secure development practices that are documented, repeatable and carried out by trained, qualified staff.
Elmo's program includes mapping out how attackers might target a product during product design, mandatory peer review of code, and independent security testing before release. A formal process for handling vulnerabilities and patches supports timely updates and clear communication with customers after release.
The program also supports Elmo's ongoing preparation for the European Union Cyber Resilience Act (CRA). Reporting obligations for actively exploited vulnerabilities and severe security incidents took effect on September 11, 2026, while the regulation's main obligations apply from December 11, 2027. Elmo's vulnerability management and incident-handling processes support this preparation as the company advances its broader CRA compliance roadmap.
For machine builders and system integrators, the certification provides evidence for supplier security evaluations and greater visibility into how Elmo addresses cybersecurity across the product lifecycle. This milestone reinforces Elmo's commitment to supporting customers as cybersecurity expectations and regulatory requirements evolve.
