3rd India Association Congress, Held on 23rd – 24th August 2013 at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai: A Grand Success

The 1^st edition of the India Association Congress (IAC) in 2011 began with the objective that, "It is only through greater collaboration, associations can scale great heights" and we lived the statement in reality. India Association Congress is organized by Association Network (AN) every year.

Mr. Prasant Saha - Chairman, IAC stated, "The Congress is the foundation that will hold the building, i.e. the industry together while creating and implementing the best practices for the society at large." After two successful editions, the 3rd IAC 2013 moved one step ahead by creating a greater platform for civil, professional and trade societies and associations to come together, which will surely have a cumulative effect on the society as a whole.

The two-day event witnessed wide variety of participations from various trade bodies like FICCI, Indo German Chamber of Commerce, Indo-French Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Bengal Chamber of Commerce, Bombay Chamber of Commerce, Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce along with participation from associations like automobile, semiconductor, medical, scientific, aeronautical, forging, real estate, agriculture etc.

The event covered various topics and challenges through interactive panel discussions stressing on areas like importance of leadership, staffing issues, membership retention, global standardization, importance of education, etc. Keynote address was delivered by Mr. M Rafeeque Ahmed, President,  Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry  (FICCI), Tamil Nadu Chamber.

It was followed by panel sessions with eminent industry personnel like Shri Jayesh Ranjan, (IAS), Vice Chairman & Managing Director Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Ltd; Vikas Gadre, Director General, Bombay Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Dr. Kaushik Desai, Director, Drug Information Association - India; Dr. B. Venkatraman, Associate Director, IGCAR - For technical session; Dr. J Ravi Kumar, National President of Indian Public Health Association, Prof & HOD of Community Medicine; PVG Menon, President, India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA); Ms. Leena Pishe Thomas, Regional Manager - European Business Technology Centre, etc., participating.

IAC also organized 'Exclusive Roundtables on Research & Development' on specific subjects like agriculture, IEEE, industry, CVB, transport and medical. The agenda was to bring association members of respective sectors and discuss research development and challenges in their field and to achieve a method to manage the same with collective thought process.
