AJC Asia Pacific Institute Names New Representatives in China, India, Japan
NEW YORK, Jan. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- AJCs pioneering Asia Pacific Institute (API) is expanding its engagement in the region with the appointment of new representatives based in Hong Kong, New Delhi, and Tokyo.
"Asia has long been a focus of AJC. It is a region of the world critical to the Jewish people, important for the State of Israel, and ripe with almost unlimited opportunity," said API Director Shira Loewenberg. "Our new representatives are poised to expand AJC's presence and amplify our voice."
Howard Elias is the API representative in Hong Kong. Elias founded the Hong Kong Jewish Film Festival in 1999, and is an active board member of the Jewish Historical Society of Hong Kong.
Arjun Hardas is the API representative in New Delhi. He has more than 13 years of experience in broadcast journalism, and served as the India Affairs Associate for the Washington, D.C.-based advocacy group, The Israel Project.
Jerome Rosenberg is the API representative in Tokyo. Rosenberg previously worked as President of Christian Dior Cosmetics Japan and Tumi Japan. He has served as president of Tokyo's Jewish community.
API, based in AJC's New York headquarters, was founded 25 years ago to focus on a region that in the last few decades has risen exponentially in economic and political importance globally. API is led by Shira Loewenberg, who is based in New York, and chaired by Jeffrey Stone of Chicago. The institute also has an India specialist, Nissim Reuben, who is based in AJC's Washington office, a China specialist, Daniel Silver, who is based in New York, and a Southeast Asia Representative, Yael Amit, who is based in the region.
