Marrying Digital India with Incredible India, a Mumbai-based start-up Desiwalks Tours Private Limited has launched an app called HopOn India through which users can take audio tours of Mumbai which will soon be followed by tours in Aurangabad, Kolkata and Varanasi.

The app HopOn India, is available both on iOS and Android platforms. It provides digitally powered immersive experiences of places. It covers history, food, culture, myth and much more. The five walks launched in Mumbai cover colonial Bombay and the art district, Elephanta, Matunga and Dadar Parsee Colony, Bollywood and cricket.
The narrations are carefully researched and in times when fiction and history are always contending for space, these walks pay close attention to both written and oral histories about these places. The user is expected to download the app, buy the walks they are interested in and then take the walk as the narrator takes them on a journey of discovery. The narrations are available in English, Hindi and Marathi with more languages to follow.

The app detects the user's location and then guides them to recommended walks in the area or the city. The app has easy in-app payment options. The walks have been priced between Rs 250 and Rs 400 for the English version and provide 90 -120 minutes of experience. The Hindi and Marathi versions are priced at Rs 160.
Walk Details
A walk from Gateway of India to Flora Fountain, a 3.5 KM route through colonial Mumbai and the art district.
A tour of the enchanting islands of Elephanta. HopOn India also has a lighter version of the Elephanta tour for those who want to do a quicker tour and a more detailed one for the aficionados.
A cricket tour - this tour will take through 150 years of Indian cricket history starting from Azad Maidan and covers the Bombay Gymkhana, Oval Maidan, the Brabourne and Wankhede stadiums before finally ending at the Gymkhanas at Marine Drive.
A Bollywood walk - starting from the Bandra Fort, this 3 KM walk will cover the abodes of the stars - Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, et al.
A Matunga and Dadar Parsee Colony walk - this walk covers the first suburb of Mumbai in detail and the tales of how both the South Indians and the Parsees came to make Mumbai their home. This walk has some amazing food joints too.
