Beauty Therapy is the Shining Skill in 'Skill India' Initiative by NSDC, Govt. of India

Skill India, celebrated its first anniversary in New Delhi where over 50000 visitors witnessed the India Skill Competition 2016 and Govt. of India launched 50 India International Skill Centers (IISC) across the country, to support youth in acquiring foreign assignment. India Skills, an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship celebrated the World Youth Skills Day on 15th July, 2016 by kick-starting the India Skill Competition at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. The competition witnessed 4820 candidates competing in 24 skills culminated from 80 regional rounds. India Skill competition is the gateway to the WorldSkills International Competition. The next WorldSkills International Competition shall be staged in Abu Dhabi in 2017 and India is strongly preparing to represent its skill strength in WorldSkills, 2017. WorldSkills International is the largest skill competition in the world, organised once every two years in one of the member countries. More than 1000 contestants below the age of 23, compete for gold, silver and bronze medals, in over 46 skills. India has been participating in WorldSkills International since 2011 under WorldSkills India initiative of NSDC. In 2015, India participated in 27 Skills at the WorldSkills competition with the delegation of 29 candidates and bagged 8 medallion of excellence at the competition. The IndiaSkills Competition as held for 24 skills in Pragati Maidan shall be followed by elimination and final round so as to prepare the final team representing India in WorldSkills Competition in 2017.

Amongst all skills progressing effectively, beauty therapy has been a shining skill as India has grabbed 'Medallion of Excellence' in last WorldSkills competition, 2015 held at Sao Paulo, Brazil and a Gold Medal in WorldSkills Oceania Competition 2015, New Zealand. In both Worldskills competition in Brazil and Oceana, Ms. Neha Chande from LTA School of Beauty has brought honor and glory for India in the world stage of skills. Previously in WorldSkills Competition-2013, Germany, Ms. Raveena Bhati from LTA School represented India for beauty therapy skill.
