CA Sahil Singla Appointed as new Chairman of Chandigarh ICAI

CHANDIGARH, India, September 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ --

The Managing Committee of Chandigarh Branch of NIRC of ICAI appointed CA. Sahil Singla as new Chairman of the Branch w.e.f. 12-09-2016.

The unanimous decision by the Managing Committee was being challenged by ICAI President CA M. Devaraja Reddy. He was sending threatening emails to the Managing Committee Members of Chandigarh Branch of suspension or dissolution of branch, appointment of an administrator etc.

Following these, disciplinary action against all eight members was initiated (only for the crime of acceptance of a voluntary resignation by the outgoing Chairman), on the behest of ICAI President, CA M. Devaraja Reddy. Thereafter, on September 19, 2016, The Managing Committee of Chandigarh Branch of NIRC of ICAI approached the Hon'ble Punjab & Haryana High Court.

The Hon'ble Punjab & Haryana High Court on 22-09-2016 has put a stay on the disciplinary action against all eight members and has allowed the Branch to continue its day to day operations under the Chairmanship of CA. Sahil Singla and further directed that all bills of Chandigarh Branch shall be cleared by Central Unit of ICAI.
