In a trend observed by Couponraja over the past six months, consumer electronics has emerged as the most searched category among online bargain hunters for discount coupons. This is followed by deals for travel, fashion and recharge. Approximately 9% of the total category queries on Couponraja are related to consumer electronics.
A joint research by Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (Assocham) along with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) revealed that consumer electronics is one of the popular shopping categories online. It further specified that along with the above, other categories such as computer, apparels and accessories will account to approximately 42% of the total online sales in 2015.
Many e-commerce giants have been successful in luring consumers by offering attractive bargain offers and exclusive online shopping events in 2014. This has also impacted the overall growth of coupon code usage across categories. An article in Reuters states that coupon code sites can grow faster than India's $13 billion e-commerce industry, which is growing at a compound annual growth rate of 34%.
