Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd. (DCBL) is organizing the Dalmia Best House Contest for the third consecutive year in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. The contest is being held across four zones (North, South, East and West) and will cover each district of Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry. These awards will reward participants for adopting and implementing best practices in house construction and aims at honouring the key people involved in building independent houses - owners, engineers, builders and architects.

Mr. Puneet Dalmia - Managing Director, Dalmia Cement (Bharat) Ltd., said, "Dalmia Best House contest is an innovative idea that is gaining popularity in the South. With this contest, we are rewarding the owners of the houses, while appreciating and recognizing the efforts and thoughtful planning that goes into building a dream home." In partnership with Star Vijay, Dalmia Best House Contest grand finale will be held at Hotel Green Park, Chennai on May 22nd.
The first prize winner at the state level will drive home a Ford Figo, while the second and third prize winners will receive gold worth one lakh rupees and Rs. 75,000 respectively. The engineers, architects and builders associated with the winning entries will be honoured with a trophy and certificate. The entries will be judged by eminent jury members led by the Prof. Suresh Kuppuswamy, head of The School of Planning and Architecture at Chennai.
The contest applicants are owners of independent houses in Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry constructed or renovated after Jan. 1st, 1998. A total of 1,500 entries have been received till date across the zones. The zonal category awards were announced and presented by the well-known Tamil film and television actor Mr. Mohan Raman. The winner in each district was awarded an 8 gm gold coin.
