The answer is the Library Connect Seminar, an initiative by Elsevier to improve the e-resources literacy among librarians.
Cashing on its phenomenal success in the country, Elsevier had, and is still organising, a 'Library Connect Seminar' in leading Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. The seminars witnessed participation from more than 400 librarians and information officers from different AICTE approved institutes in the country, in order to facilitate an exchange of information and ideas among the participants. The event also saw information professionals participating in large numbers and experience the new wave of e-resources learning in the country. The event kicked off on 12th November with an interactive session in Pune, followed by Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Thiruvananthapuram, Coimbatore, Indore and will end on 5th of December at Bhubaneswar.

Library Connect Seminar, grand day-event had the company's pillars like Manish Uniyal, Somaditya Neogy and Adeline Yap Kuhendran, talking on a range of topics pertaining to its contribution to the Indian scientific and technical community. Mr Somaditya Neogy, the Manager of Channel Sales, emphasised on the usage of e-resources in education in the country. Elsevier has been collaborating with the leading technical education institutes, universities, government and corporations, through continuous support provided by AICTE. Elsevier has been associated with AICTE, for the last four years and the mutual support both these bodies have rendered each other is phenomenal.
Ms Adeline Yap Kuhendran, Director of Sales for APAC, and Mr Somaditya Neogy, Channel Sales manager for South Asia who represented the company at Some of the seminar venue in the country, spoke at length about Elsevier has impacted global research destinations like USA and the UK, by improving the standards of technical and scientific information rendered to students and professors.
Mr Manish Uniyal, who has been the pillar of strength for Indian arm of the company, set the stage for further presentation by eminent guest speakers at all the venues. Being the company's Customer Development Manager for South Asia, he dealt with all aspects related to Elsevier's presence in the region, the packages offered to them for librarians and support rendered in training them.
Mr Rajeev Kumar, the company's lead trainer for the South Asian region, presented the features and functionalities of ScienceDirect, a premium database package offered by the company. ScienceDirect has facilitated high quality research at low cost, by funding successful acquisition, providing the need journals and resources and thereby drive innovation. Almost 115 Early career researchers from 21 countries have published their cited paper on ScienceDirect. In India, AICTE has provided the affiliated technical institutes with a subsidised ScienceDirect package, from 2012.
Eminent guest speakers such as Dr S D Markhande, the Director of NBNSTIC, Dr M Krishnamurthy and few other well known researchers, spoke at length about the importance of e-resources in being a new paradigm to the library landscape. Certainly the era of e-resources and digital library has come and here to stay.
From the all the presentations by Elsevier colleagues and eminent guest speakers from the field of research, one aspect was evident - the propulsion of scientific education, research and learning in the country.
