KOLKATA, August 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ --
Is it the right time to hold the flag of democracy high? Does the present democracy mean just a right to vote, or does its meaning really include the right to live in dignity, equality and liberty? With India, the largest democracy in the world waiting to celebrate it's 67th Independence Day, we at Foreseegame.com thought that it is time to resort to the citizens' office, the highest office of democracy, and ask them to share their opinion about the post-Independence democratic scenario they live in.

The respondents are unanimous in thinking that the current system has failed to handle the menace of terrorism in the right manner. 61% of them said that India's performance in dealing with terrorism is either poor or average. 50% of the respondents said that Indian democratic system does not provide freedom to its media and individuals, which clearly suggests there are inherent weaknesses in the system and the core value of democracy is under a question mark.
63% of the Indian nationals gave a big thumbs-down to the government when it came to the upliftment of poor and marginalised people. Given the risk of hung parliament, a presidential democracy like USA was preferred by a whopping 66% of the respondents over the current parliamentary democracy in India putting a serious question mark on the current democratic set up.
While considering the role of judiciary in India, 54% of respondents rated it as either average or poor, and when it came to rating the development of infrastructure of the nation 53% of them rated it as either average or poor. The performance of election commission, however, brought some respite as 52% of the respondents rated it as good and above average.
