At this year's 'Securing India 2016' conference, organized by Security Watch India, India's leading security solutions provider, G4S, focused on the need for Smart Policing. The two day-long conference witnessed participation from leading members of the government and industry, where insights were shared by some eminent experts and leaders on various aspects that are critical for safety and security of citizens. Some of the notable dignitaries who attended the conference include Meenakshi Lekhi, Member Parliament and Spokesperson, BJP; Shri. Gopal Pillai, IAS (Retd.), Former Union Home and Commerce Secretary, Government of India; Mrs. Sutapa Sanyal, IPS, DGP, UP Police.
Ms. Meenakshi Lekhi, Member Parliament and Spokesperson, BJP addressed the audience in a special session on 'Securing Our Cities'. While giving the keynote address, Shri. Gopal Pillai, IAS (Retd.), Former Union Home and Commerce Secretary, Government of India threw light upon the importance of Community Policing.
Other important topics that were discussed during the conference were modernization of police forces, safety as an integral part of Smart Cities, case studies on smart policing initiatives in India and role of private security as a force multiplier among others.
