Daily Seminars on Synthetic Diamonds, Rare Diamond Exhibits, an Alumni Event and More
Synthetic diamonds have attracted the attention of the global gem and jewellery industry in recent years. The thousands of jewellers, diamond manufacturers, traders and students visiting the India International Jewellery Show (IIJS) will have the opportunity to learn about synthetic diamonds and their identification during free seminars offered by GIA, the foremost authority in gemology. The seminars will take place on all five days of the show - from August 4-8 - at the GIA booth AL 048 and the GJEPC SDKP booth in Hall 6.

GIA will participate in seminars hosted by the GJEPC:
Friday, August 5: Mathew Hall, Director of the GIA laboratory in India, will present 'Screening & Identification of Synthetic Diamonds,' followed by a panel discussion with industry experts.
Saturday, August 6: GIA instructor Mohit Agarwal, will present a 'Synthetic Diamonds' seminar based on the latest research.
Sunday, August 7: Nirupa Bhatt, Managing Director, GIA in India and the Middle East, will moderate an interactive session on 'Synthetic Diamonds: Challenges & Opportunities' with an expert panel featuring Neelesh Hundekari of A. T. Kearney, Rajiv Mehta of Dimexon Diamonds, Asher O. of Malabar Gold & Diamonds, and Colin Shah of Kama Schachter Jewelry.
Thursday, August 4 through Monday, August 8: As part of a GJEPC initiative, GIA will also present a series of seminars on synthetic diamonds, 'Knowledge and Detection,' at the SDKP booth in Hall 6, every hour from 11 AM to 5 PM. In addition, 'Spotlight on Synthetics' seminars will be held daily at GIA booth no. AL 048.
"Synthetic diamonds have existed for many years and are a reality of the market today. Gem and jewellery consumers trust their jewellers. It is critical to maintain this trust for the well-being of this industry. GIA believes detection and disclosure is the key to winning consumer confidence. Later this year, GIA will launch a fully automated rapid detection service for diamonds from .005 to .20 carats," said Nirupa Bhatt.
Seminars on fluorescence in diamonds, merchandising, history and value factors of pearls, the allure of ruby, sapphire and emerald, and beyond the 4Cs of diamonds will also be held the GIA booth each day.
Bhatt will be moderating a panel discussion on the 'Power of Merchandising - Visual & Product' on Saturday, August 6. The panellists are Ananthanarayanan from Tanishq, Vijay Jain from ORRA, and Aditi Kotak from Vision Board Technology.
On Sunday, August 7, Nirupa Bhatt will coordinate a panel discussion on Future of Jewellery - Design or Investment, which will be moderated by Prasad Kapre - Blue Skies Business Management Group. The panellists include leading jewellery designers Gunjan Suri and Shefali Patel along with Keyur Shah from Muthoot Group and Shehzad Zaveri from Minawala.

Melee Analysis Service for Diamonds
GIA's booth will feature a video introducing GIA's Melee Analysis Service, a fully automated system to rapidly and accurately analyse and sort round D-to-Z melee-size diamonds. The service addresses concerns of the gem and jewellery industry about the possibility of synthetic or treated diamonds being mixed into parcels of melee.
The GIA Alumni Meet and Greet
Meet fellow graduates, interact with industry leaders, build new business relationships and revive existing ones. An alumni event will be held on Saturday, August 6 from 4 to 5 PM at the GIA booth.
Replicas of rare wonders - evaluated by GIA on display
Visitors will also have a unique opportunity to see replicas of the world's famous diamonds evaluated by GIA. Replicas include the Wittelsbach-Graff, The Hope and the Beau Sancy diamonds.
