BANGALORE, December 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --

GMTC-I spectacular scrap art sculpture take center stage at the 2017 CARTIST Yatra

A spectacular "scrap art" sculpture is the centerpiece of General Motors' participation in the 2017 CARTIST Automobile Art Festival in Bangalore.

The CARTIST Automobile Art Festival is an annual art festival, combining Indian art and culture with the nation's love for vintage cars.

A nationwide CARTIST Yatra is running from December to February 2018. Covering 9,100 km through 10 cities, it offers 1,000 artists the opportunity to showcase their automobile-inspired art. From those artists, 200 finalists will be selected to showcase their artwork in the CARTIST Automobile Art Festival 2018 in Jaipur.

The GMTC-I sculpture showcased the artistic talent of the GM Design Centre's employees. Adding to the talent display, senior GMTC-I leaders participated in a 'live-painting' event, transforming the hoods of four Chevrolet Corvettes.

GMTC-I practices and actively promotes a work culture that encourages employees to pursue their talents and areas of interest. The event witnessed senior members from GMTC-I: Brian McMurray, VP, Engineering and Operations, GM; Anil Saini, Director, Design; Rituparna Dasgupta, Global Talent & Development at GM International and Rachana Darshan, Design Program Manager, General Motors.

"CARTIST perfectly blends GMTC-I's passion for cars and art and provides an ideal platform for our talented employees to showcase their creativity," said Brian McMurray, Vice President Engineering and Operations, General Motors.

"Based in Bangalore, GMTC-I is a key part of GM's global engineering function and houses a state-of-the-art design studio and engineering center. The CARTIST Yatra provided a great opportunity to GM to infuse art with creativity and innovation. It has been a great experience to watch and appreciate the spectacular art displayed by my colleagues and other participants," he added.

The CARTIST Automobile Art Festival has been organized in Bangalore from 8- 10th December between 1.45 PM to 4.30 PM at Central College Bangalore, Palace Road, Gandhi Nagar, Bengaluru.
