The session will have a fixed number of observers within the OT to better understand the process. This will be a mix of internal team members and external doctors.
Webinar will bust myths:
The webinar will also serve to bust a few myths associated with hair transplant:
Myth # 1. Hair transplant is someone else's hair transplanted on to my scalp.
Hair transplant is essentially the relocation or transplanting of hair follicles from your own scalp into the bald areas. In a transplant, the hair is generally transplanted from the back of the head, where the follicles are genetically resistant to balding of any sort. The process once done is permanent.
Myth # 2. I am not the right candidate for a hair transplant.
Anybody with hair that has begun to thin, or who is going bald or is already bald can go in for a hair transplant. Even those who have just begun to lose hair may want to consider the procedure as well.
Myth # 3. I am too young to get a hair transplant done.
Starting from 22 years of age to any age can undergo a hair transplant. The only criteria is donor density i.e. availability of hair on the back of the scalp.
Myth # 4. Hair that is transplanted will not look like my natural hair.
Done scientifically and by the right expert, hair transplant results will look natural. Even a hair stylist will not be able to tell the difference. It is however important to choose the right procedure and professional for the job to ensure the best results.
Myth # 5. Hair transplant is not safe.
Hair transplant is a completely safe and simple procedure. It is medically certified and is being done world over by cosmetic surgeons and dermato surgeons. Technology has developed to a large extent and this procedure is now a relatively superficial one. Healing time is quick and any minor side-effects may be dealt with quickly.
Myth # 6. A hair transplant surgery is very painful.
Local anesthaesia is given all along the donor and recipient areas. After this there will be no pain or discomfort during the whole process. Once the anesthesia wears off, patient may feel a certain level of soreness and discomfort.
Myth # 7. There can be severe side-effects of hair transplant.
There may be a few minor and temporary side-effects of a hair transplant such as bleeding, swelling of the scalp, scabs forming around the donor area, itching, inflammation of the hair follicles or even sudden loss of the transplanted hair (shock loss). This however, is usually minor and will clear up soon.
Myth # 8. Hair transplant will take a long time to heal.
Hair transplantation procedures of today are extremely advanced and the incisions required are small and less invasive. This enables quicker healing. In most cases, a day or two following surgery is what is required for a patient to recover. At most, there will be a few patches of numbness and soreness for a few days.
Myth # 9. I can't socialize for several weeks after the hair transplant.
Right after the surgery, the transplants will be visible for a while, especially if there is no existing hair to cover the patches. However, a week after the transplant is when a patient will be comfortable to venture out without a hat or scarf.
Myth # 10 Hair will take very long to grow back.
It may take anywhere between 3 to 5 months for hair to grow out fully. It may look thin initially, but will grow out fuller with time.
Myth # 11. Hair transplant does not stay for long and I may need multiple transplants.
Hair transplant is permanent and the transplanted hair will stay till the life of the patient. It is unusual and rarely does one lose transplanted hair. However, in case that happens one can undergo another transplant. In fact one person can undergo any number of sessions of hair transplant provided if he/she has good donor density after the transplant procedures.
Myth # 12. Hair transplant is very expensive.
A hair transplant can cost between Rs. 50,000 to Rs. 5 Lakhs depending on the technique being used be it DHT, Bio FUT, Bio FUE, Long hair transplant etc.
