How is Indian Youth Celebrating Raksha Bandhan This Year?
NEW DELHI, August 28, 2015 /PRNewswire/ --
Raksha Bandhan is round the corner and is a festival which strengthens the bond between brothers and sisters. Traditionally, sisters used to tie the Rakhi to their war-going brothers and wished them well being and the brothers in return would pledge to provide protection to the sisters. However, its significance and context has changed completely in the modern world. So, we, at Baggout, decided to dig this deeper and conducted a survey amongst our users.
So, here we are, with the Raksha Bandhan survey to know as to how people are going to celebrate it this year and does Raksha Bandhan still hold its significance. The survey questionnaire was sent to over 1 lakh of our users and was responded to by over 1600 respondents. Some of the results of the survey were truly enlightening so we have decided to share the same with rest of the community.

1. The majority (98%) of people will celebrate Raksha Bandhan this year.
2. Bulk of respondents (82%) said that they were happy about Rakhi being on a Saturday this year, so they can celebrate it better.

Remarks
In totality, the survey does bring to light that the youth of India might have learnt and accepted foreign culture but they haven't forgotten their own traditions. It's a sign of indemnity that our values aren't lost and that the coming generations believe in sister-bother bond just like the previous generations. Relationships, peers and family are equally important to them as is the technology, freedom and individuality. Opinions might have changed a little, but the core values are still the same. Let's celebrate Raksha Bandhan to the fullest on that note.
Happy Raksha Bandhan!
