IILM University Conducts Prelims of IILM Young Citizen Award for Innovation and Social Impact in Collaboration With UN Global Compact Network India

IILM University Gurugram played host to more than 50 teams from various schools for the preliminary round of IILM Young Citizen Award for Innovation and Social Impact, in collaboration with UN Global Compact Network India. Addressing the student teams ahead of the competition, Mr. Kamal Singh, Executive Director - UN Global Compact Network India, congratulated the students for coming out with ideas for the betterment of the society. He said that the objective of the award is to create a pool of socially impactful innovative ideas that can be further developed to commercially viable solutions to address the socio-economic problems of India by encouraging young school children to engage with ideas of citizenship and commitment to civic values.
The key areas around which the students had to contribute their ideas include Sustainability, Gender Justice, Inclusion, Diversity, Responsible, Social Justice, Environment - Cleantech, Clean Air, Water and Sanitation, and their projects were to create an impact on at least 10 families around them. The event saw participation from some of the leading schools including Delhi Public School Sector 45 Gurugram, Shalom Hills International Gurugram, Delhi Public School Sushant Lok Gurugram, Ramjas School RK Puram Delhi, DPS International Gurugram, Rotary Public School Gurugram, Ryan International Delhi, Banyan Tree School Chandigarh, Kendriya Vihar Chennai, Mahavir Model School Delhi, Govt Girls School Bahadurgarh, Banyan Tree School, Delhi and Amity International Noida.
The jury comprised of senior experts from the field, Ms. Chetna Kaura (India CSR Lead, Sapient), Gp Capt Rajiv Seth (Retd), PhD (Pro Vice-Chancellor, TERI), Mr. G Sridhar (AGM-CSR, NTPC Ltd), Ms. Sangeeta Robinson (Head - CSR, PVR Cinemas), Mr. Prabhas Sinha (Chief Advisor, Social Responsibility Council), Ms. Aparna Mahajan (Director, Projects and Fundraising (South), Sehgal Foundation), Mr. Nikhil Pant (Chief Development Officer Reacha & Managing partner Shaktishi), Mr. Vikas Kataria (Director - Resource Mobilization, WaterAid India), Mr. Amrendra Pandey (CSR, Bennett & Coleman), Ms. Meenakshi Batra (CEO, CAF India), Dr. Aabha Chaudhary (Chairperson Anugraha), Mr. Yogesh Sharma (Product Head- GreenCar), Dr. Vidisha Vyas (Professor, IILM) and Prof. Upasana Bhutani (Professor, IILM). The jury was highly impressed with the wonderful ideas and innovative projects of the students. The shortlisted entries will now advance to the finals of the competition which will be held on UN Day i.e. October 24, 2018.
