Jiffie.in, an Express Logistics Marketplace, Expands Further to More Cities

Jiffie.in, a marketplace for international express logistics, has expanded to more cities and is now operational in Hyderabad, Mumbai, Pune and Chennai apart from Bangalore, where it is headquartered.

The primary offering is designed to simplify the process of booking and sending couriers or parcels for retail and SME customers. It enables them to book couriers and parcels in less than six clicks after comparing a host of reputed services by cost, delivery time or user ratings. For service providers, it gives them a reach much beyond the local coverage, which they have had but without any additional marketing expenses.

Industry analysts estimate that SMEs and retail customers spend anywhere between 2-6 hours on research and ground work before placing an order, most of the time being spent on information gathering, as seen earlier. All this inefficiency is primarily due to information asymmetry and supply-demand mismatch. Both the problems can be solved by a marketplace portal and Jiffie.in is one of the leading portals, which solves the problem in a very effective manner.

Technology can play a very significant role in closing the gap in this multibillion dollar sector. According to an industry report from CRISIL in 2012, express logistics was estimated to be a ~USD $3 billion (INR 18,500 crore), growing at a double-digit growth Y-o-y, making it one of the fastest growing sectors.
